College Mentorship Program

MRS. KHAN'S FIFTH GRADE CMP
Mrs. Khan's fifth grade CMP class had a great time focusing on teamwork this week. The boys talked about teamwork and then put their discussions into practice by working together to create board games. The boys had to make a plan, agree on their game time, draw/create a game board, and write up the instructions for the game. They worked together as partners, agreeing, disagreeing, and compromising to come up with final products. Now we will save our games for future play!

MS. PRUETT’S CMP CLASS
In Ms. Pruett’s CMP class, the 6th grade girls have been discussing various topics relating to life as a middle school student. We began by listing goals and brainstorming solutions for possible hurdles along the way, practiced reading non-verbal cues and showing empathy for others, and we created “Inspiration” posters to share what motivates us.

We have also been reading and discussing the book Stargirl. The young adult novel, tackles issues such as nonconformity and popularity and was a New York Times bestseller as well as a Parents Choice Gold Award Winner. Students have enjoyed discussing the themes common to the middle school experience.
