Your students had a BLAST this past Thursday at STEAM Day. We traveled
to many different activities and experiences, each one better than the
next...
Students started the day with taping Principal
Sener to the wall for the fundraising of Destination Imagination Team
and traveled to many wonderful activities such as Reptiles, bubbles,
marshmallow shooters, handmade musical instruments, origami, Cosplay,
astronomy, string art, face painting, magician, lasers and more!
A
huge thank you to our parent volunteers who helped make this day a
major success. It was an amazing day for everyone. The best STEAM day we
ever had for sure!

FSAPS STUDENTS VISITED GOOGLE HEADQUARTERS
Fulton
Science Academy student team NYAN, second place finalists of the 2015
Tag-Ed Web challenge, was invited to Google headquarters in downtown
Atlanta for an awards ceremony on May 6, 2015. Team members Elena
Juarez, Elaine Wen, and Shreya Rekapalli enjoyed a lovely evening
meeting with other finalists, company representatives, teachers, and
Google employees. The trip gave team members a very insightful and
inspiring learning experience. Thanks to Mr. Sanal for being an awesome
mentor! For all that are interested in entomophagy, the link to the

2ND GRADERS PREPARED FLOWER POTS FOR OUR WONDERFUL MOTHERS!
2nd grade had a great time reviewing the plant life cycle, while also creating flower pots for our wonderful mothers. The students decorated the pots themselves, and planted their very own flower in the pot using loam soil. We discussed the benefits of loam soil verses sandy soil or clay soil. What a fun and messy hand-on experience! Happy Mother's Day from 2nd Grade!
KINDERGARTEN CLASS BUTTERFLY FUN!
We have had the best time watching our caterpillars turn into
butterflies. Today we set our 7 butterflies free! Your students said
'goodbye' to each one as they flew out of our butterfly net. It was an
awesome experience to see the life cycle of these butterflies happen
right in our very own classroom!
1ST GRADE MOTHERS ENJOYED MUFFINS WITH MOMS
First grade had a terrific time this morning celebrating with our moms at Muffins with Mom. Students had breakfast with their moms and drew portraits of each other. They also gave them some gifts that they had worked on this week. It is so special to see our moms and kids together, and it was a wonderful way to wrap up Mother's Day weekend. We love our moms so much!
FSAPS STUDENTS HAD A GREAT TIME AT SPACE CAMP
Please see some pictures from our recent end of year field trip to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama here.
Students returned from Space Camp during Mother's Day and they gave roses to their mothers who came to school to welcome them.

Leaf and Tree Study Walk
On
Saturday, 2nd May, Elementary Science Olympians studying Leaf and Tree
Finders went on a Tree Identification Nature Walk. Kavitha Kuppusamy,
Lakshya Jasti, Raaga Ajay and Niyomi Shah spent two hours on Big Creek
Greenways with their coach Ms. Doraiswami. They identified and saw the
leaves, bark, fruit, seed balls etc. of many trees from their list of
20+ trees including Black Tupelo, Loblolly Pine, American Sweetgum,
American Sycamore, Yellow Poplar, River Birch and Red Maple. They ran
short races with Avinash on the boardwalk, drank water, took notes, had
cookies, saw a green snake whip hrough the water into swamp grass, saw a
duck, drake and ducklings swim in the water, saw some bracket fungi and
had a lot of fun! Each student had a parent accompany them on the walk
and they served as backpack carriers, water bearers and pullers of tall
branches!
Leaf and Tree Finders are preparing hard for their State Tournament on May 16th and this Nature Walk helped them get a hands on work for their event. Thank you for putting this together Ms. Przedpelski & Ms. Minor!

FSAPS STUDENTS AND FACULTY PREPARED A FLASH MOB FOR PRINCIPAL SENER ON HIS BIRTHDAY
This is what happens when you have wonderful students and teachers. This Tuesday, May 5th was my birthday and I was called to the main hallway at the end of the morning announcements. I went there not knowing what to expect. It was a big surprise. It's amazing to me that all of the students, faculty, and even my own children kept this a secret right up until it actually happened. I must revisit the confidence I usually feel that I always know what is going on at our school. Haha! This is a birthday I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am very happy to be part of Fulton Science Academy. You made my day. THANK YOU!

FSAPS TEACHERS CELEBRATED COMPLETION OF THEIR GIFTED ENDORSEMENTS WITH DR. GOLLMAR
As you might already know, a group of FSAPS teachers were taking gifted
endorsement classes from Metro RESA for the last two years. The classes
were every other Wednesday between 5pm and 7pm. We truly enjoyed and
benefited from this gifted endorsement class and will always treasure
the time we spent with our amazing professor, Dr. Gollmar. Dr. Gollmar
has years of experience in gifted education and she designed the class
in most beneficial way for our teachers. With the competition of this
gifted endorsement our teachers have the knowledge and the tools to
better serve the big gifted population we have at FSAPS. It certainly
takes us to the next level. FSAPS teachers thanked Dr. Gollmar with a
party organized for her honor during last class this April. THANK YOU
Dr. Gollmar!
We plan to start another gifted endorsement cohort for the new teachers next year.

FSAPS ENROLLMENT UPDATE & NEW CAMPUS TOURS
We are pleased to inform you that we now have a waiting list for our
1st and 2nd grade classes for 2015 -2016 school year. Seems like soon we
will have a waiting list for most of our grades. Beginning next year,
we will no longer do rolling admissions as we will not have that much
space in each grade. Instead, we will place a deadline and announce
accepted students after the deadline just like other well established
private schools do.
As you know the campus will be ready on June, 2015. The new campus is about 75,000 square ft. and have 35 classes. We are currently reserving some classes for our high school grades which we plan to start in August, 2016. As announced earlier, we will have two classes of each grade in elementary level and four classes of each grade in middle school level.
Many families have toured new campus on Saturdays. Our wonderful construction manager, Tony enjoys giving guided tours to our families personally. You are most welcome to bring your children to new campus tours as well. If interested, please contact Mr. Turan at nturan@fultonscienceacademy.org.
Our official opening ceremony for the new campus will be on Thursday, August 13 noon with the attendance of State Superintendent Richard Woods, the world's tallest man, and many other specials guests. It will be a great day for our students, teachers and parents.
Next year will be an exciting year!
