Fulton Science Academy Private School would like to welcome Akshay M, a new seventh grade student here at FSAPS. This past summer, Akshay competed in the US Open International Martial Arts Tournament in Orlando. The tournament gathered competitors from around the world. After years of hard work and practice, Akshay placed in weapons after competing with his second level weapon, sais, (he has mastered the bow staff) and was a finalist in traditional forms and point sparring (fighting).
Akshay trains in youndo ju jitsu at Cumming Martial Arts. This includes a mix of Japanese ju jitsu , judo, karate, shotokan. After six years of intense training, he is now a purple black belt with a pending promotion to brown once he passes his brown belt test. Once he obtains his brown belt, he will be only three degrees away from earning his black belt!
In addition to his academic studies and martial arts training, Akshay also plays the piano, enjoying both classic composers and contemporary pop. His last recital choices included a performance of Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a prayer," which was met with great applause from the audience.
