Fulton Science Academy Private School College Mentorship Program Compassion - This video is phase two of Mrs. Carmona's CMP class project. Phase one consisted of the fundraising they worked on the past few months in which shoes and uniforms were donated to 30 students in Colombia. This CMP group has made BIG efforts and worked very hard on showing empathy and communication skills. This video summarizes the work students have done with the 7th Grade Second Step Curriculum.

2ND GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES
WOW! I am SO impressed with my students and the hard work they have done on their Cultures Around the World projects. I can tell that students really took ownership of their learning and worked hard to create something they could use to teach their classmates all about their assigned country. It also seems like everyone really enjoyed creating this project! I am so glad.
I was very pleased with the few presentations we had this morning. I love that I can tell our students have practiced what they will say to the classmates :) We will do a few each day until we have presented all projects. I can't wait to see all of the presentations!
Enjoy a few photos from our presenters today!

SCHOOL STORE IS OPEN!
Thanks to our wonderful student council, we now have a school store in our cafeteria.
Drinks, snacks and school supplies will be available to purchase from school store at good prices. Please do not send large amounts of cash to school with your child.
The store will be open before school, and during lunch and club time.
The school store is being managed by our middle school students and any profit will be used to benefit our athletic programs.

MIDDLE GRADES STEAM WORKSHOPS AT THE HIGH MUSEUM
On the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of March, FSAPS middle school students had the opportunity to attend a special STEAM program at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. Each grade travelled to the museum separately to take part in the program, in which they learned how the “A”, or “Art” in STEAM was an integral part of their curriculum and how other academic disciplines are used in the creation of art.
During the program, students were led on a tour of several exhibits from African art to contemporary art and all things in between. In doing so, they were given hands-on experience with the materials used to create artworks throughout history, from the dark and vivid hues of early Italian artists that used egg tempura paint through the modern oils and acrylics of today.
There were several special exhibitions on display during the visit. These included works by Vik Muniz, widely thought of as one of the most innovative artists of the 21st century, as well as the impossible-looking dresses of Iris van Herpen which take their inspiration from nature, technology, and even philosophy to create unique costumes.
Students also participated in a workshop where they were tasked with using all of their STEAM skills to design objects which are both practical and aesthetically pleasing in order to solve real issues facing the world. Examples of issues to look at included water filtration, traffic control, animal shelters, and keeping birds from office windows.
Following the exhibits and workshop, students enjoyed lunch on the lawn outside the museum before returning to school with a new appreciation for the role science, technology, engineering, and math play in the creation of art of all kinds and how art can influence those disciplines as well.

Walton High School Math Tournament
Our mathletes competed a the Walton High School Tournament last Saturday.
Both teams, Varsity and JV, placed 4th in their divisions, which is amazing for middle school students as they are competing with much older High School students.
7th grader, Holden Watson placed 3rd in the individual varsity competition.

March 17th Kindergarten Mischief
St. Patrick’s Day morning (March 17th) was filled with mischief and fun for the kindergarteners. Pat the Leprechaun had visited both classrooms overnight and left more than a few surprises! The classrooms definitely looked a little more disheveled than usual and the kids had a great time cleaning up from that pesky leprechaun, but the best part was the riddle-filled scavenger hunt! Students solved clever riddles as a group and traveled around the school to try and find Pat’s pot o’ gold. Alas, he evaded us once again. However, great fun was had by all and the plastic coins we found were almost as exciting as the real thing!
Fulton Science Academy Crochet Club
The Crochet Club girls are having a great time stitching their way through new skills this quarter. The girls have learned to chain, single crochet, double crochet, and will soon be working on increasing and decreasing to create different shapes. We are so excited to start stitching new spring colors for the warm weather season, and look forward to showing off our new projects!
Pi Day was lots of fun!
Our students were extremely creative in designing their Pi Day t-shirts, it was a hard decision- but here are the winners!

5TH GRADE WAX MUSEUM
Fifth grade students chose historical figures to study, dress as and perform as. Each student relayed facts about their character, but only once their "on button" had been pressed!
The younger elementary grade teachers and students were very impressed with how much work had gone into this social studies project.
Congratulations on a job well done 5th Grade!
